Notified Bodies

Notified bodies are certification bodies, testing institutes and/or inspection bodies which are disclosed by the governments of the EU member states, in Austria by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour, to the commission of the EU and the other member states, i.e. notified to the CPD.

Only those institutes are authorized to conduct conformity assessment procedures with respect to one or more „New Approach Directive(s)“ concerning testing, assessment and certification.

As the results of the activities of notified bodies have to be acknowledged within all of the single european markt without any reservations - which is one of the benefits of CE-marking - it is up to the manufacturer to choose any notified body of any member state to work with.
