ETAG and ETZ
An European Technical Approval (ETA) is an european technical specification which can be used as the basis for CE-marking.
ETA are being developed if no harmonized european standard for a construction product exists (yet). This allows producers to CE-mark newly developed products.
An ETA can be published based on a guideline, a so called ETAG (European Technical Approval Guideline).
The assignment to develop a guideline is being made by the "Standing Committee for Construction Products" (SCC) by issuing a mandate to EOTA, the European Organisation for Technical Approval.
Austria is represented in the committees of EOTA through the Österreichisches Institut für Bautechnik" (OIB).

Alternatively, the development of an ETA without a guidline can be carried out following the CUAP-procedure (Common Understanding of Assessment Procedure), a voting procedure coordinated by EOTA.
