ÖNORM EN 1991-1-6|Execution

EN 1991-1-6 provides principles and general rules for the determination of actions which should be taken into account during execution of buildings and civil engineering works.

This docment is applicable to permanent buildings and structures during constuction as well as to necessary auxiliary constructions for manufacturing and assembling of structures.

The given rules can be applied to

  • Manufacturing and assembling of exceptional structures and buildings and
  • Temporary design situations during maintenance, repair or damaging of structures and bridges.

The two main objectives of this document are:

  • The indication of general values for actions caused by construction, e.g. those which are applicable to several construction methods or which result from a temporarily restricted construction period;
  • The specification of a general framework for actions caused by special construction sequences which should be defined before starting construction.

Safety and serviceability during execution can not be achieved by design only. Additional provisions, e.g. supervision of constuction and monitoring of actions during the individual steps of assembling are required. However, those provisions can not be specified as rules.

Rules concerning the safety of people in and around the construction site are out of the scope of EN 1991-1-6.
